Privacy Policy
We keep this simple: we collect only what we need, we never sell your data, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. If you have questions, email us at georgia@labraxtech.com.
1. Who we are
Village is operated by Labraxtech Ltd, based in Kerry, Ireland ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller responsible for your personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts 1988–2018.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at georgia@labraxtech.com.
2. What data we collect and why
Waitlist sign-ups
When you join our waitlist, we collect your email address. We use this to:
- Notify you when the app launches in your area
- Send you occasional updates about Village's development
Legal basis: Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time by clicking "unsubscribe" in any email we send you, or by contacting us directly.
Business enquiries
When you submit a business enquiry, we collect your name, email address, business name, and message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry and, if relevant, to set up your listing on the app.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) — specifically, responding to an enquiry you initiated.
App usage (once the app launches)
Once the Village app is live, we will collect additional data to provide the service, including:
- Account information — name and email address when you create an account
- Saved content — places and events you mark as favourites
- Location data — your approximate location, used only to show you relevant nearby content (we do not store precise location history)
- Usage analytics — anonymised data about how the app is used, to help us improve it
This policy will be updated before the app launches with full details of all data processing.
3. How we store and protect your data
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), which is hosted within the European Economic Area. Firebase is ISO 27001 certified and complies with GDPR.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse — including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted access controls.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we do our best to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
4. How long we keep your data
- Waitlist email addresses — until the app launches in your area, or until you unsubscribe, whichever comes first. After launch, we will delete waitlist data within 90 days.
- Business enquiry data — up to 2 years from the date of your enquiry, unless we are in an ongoing business relationship.
- App account data — for as long as you hold an account, plus up to 30 days after deletion to allow for account recovery.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following third-party service providers, and only to the extent necessary to provide the service:
- Google Firebase — database, authentication, and analytics infrastructure
- Google Analytics (Firebase Analytics) — anonymised usage analytics
All third parties we use are contractually required to handle your data in accordance with GDPR. We do not share your data with any other parties without your explicit consent, unless required to do so by law.
6. Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
To exercise any of these rights, email us at georgia@labraxtech.com. We will respond within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (DPC), Ireland's supervisory authority: www.dataprotection.ie.
7. Cookies
This website does not currently use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies. We may use essential session cookies to maintain basic website functionality.
If we introduce analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent.
8. Children's privacy
Village is an app for parents and caregivers — it is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently received data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify waitlist subscribers by email.
